Capturing the essence of vintage fashion

Nicole Sloan is an American photographer with a languid style and a detailed eye for vintage fashion. Her sweet, sexy and playful collections of 1950’s swimsuits and early 20th century hats were stories yearning to be told.

Working with the Sloan team, I brought the collections together into two uniquely printed portfolios, La Piscine and Les Chapeaux. Both portfolios were designed to capture the beauty and personality of Nicole’s photographic style. Each portfolio was carefully crafted as intimate visual stories meant to be held, touched and savoured. Tactile cotton paper, transparent parchment, soft newsprint, unbound spines, and pink-cut edges were chosen to mimic the historical fabrics and sewing techniques of the 20th century. The result were two distinct collections which caught the eye of numerous North American creative buyers and art directors.
